Venice II - Murano, Burano, Venice

We didn't set an alarm this morning :)

Day trip to the islands! We did a quick stop at Cemeteria (the Venetian cemetery). It was very peaceful and enjoyable to walk around.

Next is Murano (famous for its glass).

Lunchtime! Salmon gnocchi (my new favorite pasta) and Tagliatelle al cuttlefish (some crazy seafood pasta dish) with some wine.

Next is Mazzorbo! A cute little island with adorable vineyards. We walked around and found the bridge leading to Burano Island (known for its Venetian lace and colorful houses).

BURANO!
We loved the islands because we had more opportunities to enjoy the view of canals with buildings. Venice is so huge and touristy that it has a different feel. Also, if you want to enjoy the view, you must pay to sit down at a restaurant on the canal whereas on the little islands, you can buy food to go and then eat wherever you want!

WE LOVED BURANO!!! (especially me) This was my favorite part of our trip to Venice by far. The colorful houses made me so happy! It's the background of my blog! It was peaceful and not as touristy and just super adorable.

Paws! Kittens with Courtney!

Travel tips from Cody: "If you have to ask if it's a pretty view...it's not."

We decided to get a little treat and then people watch. We walked into a local food shop where the woman didn't speak ANY English. She called another woman over to translate for her. We bought Nutella and a bottle of wine for 4.20 euro. It was amazing! The woman who helped translate had her daughter with her who said "ciao" as we left. So cute!!!

We took a vaparetto back to Venice and sat outside to enjoy the views.
