Switzerland II - Murren & Gimmelwald

Tuesday, September 16, 2014

I woke up before Cody to go sit on the porch and enjoy the view. I opened the door and there were Switzerland mountain creatures up on the hill! It was a good morning surprise!

We walked to the COOP to get groceries! Switzerland is EXPENSIVE!

The milk and eggs were not refrigerated. Interesting.

There were a few fresh water troughs throughout that town with the best water I've ever tasted! We think water is gross...but we loved this fresh, super cold deliciousness!

Breakfast on our porch with our amazing view!

Hike #1 - Walk to Gimmelwald! It is a cute little town but we were so glad we stayed in Murren!

Look who we found on the way! She has a little house!!

Cable car on its way from Gimmelwald to Murren.

Gimmelwald! Kari this is for you! I think you and Kyle have a pic in this same spot! :)

If you want something here, just take it and leave some money!

Fresh water trough in Gimmelwald :)

We met Walter and he made us some coffee and schnapps drinks. He sat outside and chatted with us while we drank them. We talked about cooking, tomatoes, the history of the hotel (opened in 1952),  cows, how his dad was a cook for Hitler's financial advisor, Rick Steves and how he wanted to build a hotel in Gimmelwald, the Gimmelwald economy, and life.

"Life is wonderful if you know how to live it" - Walter

Paws! Kittens with Courtney!

Travel Tips from Cody: "When packing, make sure not to pack ALL your clothes...including the ones you're going to wear that day"

We followed a sign to Lauterbrunnen which led us to the middle of nowhere without a sign in miles. So...we decided it was time for our picnic lunch, then hiked back to Gimmelwald and took a cable car to Murren.

Cute little Murren.

Appetizers, wine, and a movie! Snuggle time in the alps on our porch.
