Things I would have done differently...

Clothing: The weather was always close to the average high rather than the low...in other words...warmer than expected. I would have brought 1-2 more tanks/short sleeve shirts and a different pair of shorts. The pair I brought was very comfy and flowy, but I think my shirts would have looked better with a more fitted pair of shorts. Black was definitely a good choice though.
I would have brought less sweaters (or long sleeve shirts) and more undershirts that could be layered with a zip up hoodie or cardigan. A sweater would be perfect for just hanging out and not doing much, but I would get hot walking around all day and wouldn't have a way to shed to less clothing.

Underwear: I packed 4 and I think a total of 6 or 7 would have been much better, considering our laundry situation was much different than expected.

Scarves: I ended up bringing 2 regular scarves and 1 scarf that could also be used as a blanket. I didn't regret it since I used all 3, but it really wasn't necessary considering I bought 2 scarves while traveling.

Shoes: I would have packed a different color of TOMS. My light grey ones got so dirty and I ended up throwing them away near the end of the trip when I knew I wouldn't need them anymore. TOMS were the perfect shoe though! So comfortable and I would pack them again. The boots and flip flops were perfect too. I wore all my shoes many times.

Jackets: I packed 2 and would only pack 1 if I had a do-over. Instead of 2 coats I would have packed more tanks/short sleeve shirts with something to layer over top (zip up or cardigan).

Socks: I brought 3 pairs no show socks, 3 pairs wool socks , 1 pair compression stockings. I would NOT bring the compression stockings. They were uncomfortable and only used once (the plane ride to Europe). I'd rather just do leg exercises while in my seat and make sure to get up and move around. I would have brought 1 more pair of no show socks and 1 more pair of wool socks.

Jewelry: I would not have brought either necklace. It's not super comfortable to have a long necklace on all day (and it's kind of annoying). I just didn't need the Washington necklace although neither necklace took up any space since it was packed with my earings which I definitely used. I would have maybe packed some more earings to change up the look of my outfits. Or...just buy some there (which I did) :)

I'm not sure if any of the video clips have been working so here they are if you're interested!

We thought we were going to see Enna, but instead we found Siena! Here is the main Il Campo square.

Barcelona

Wednesday, October 1, 2014

Our last stop! We're so glad we ended here! We loved Barcelona :) I had fun using my Spanish to communicate! The city is clean and has incredible art all over the place! Everything is so cheap, it's beachy and fun, and it was the perfect ending city for us.

Our last AIRBNB

The view from our little porch!

We headed straight to the beach for the evening!

This picture reminds me of the O.C. and Seth sailing around on the Summer Breeze :)

In between the beach and our AIRBNB was a carnival! Every night we walked through it :)

Look it's a CRONUT!

La Sagrada Familia. One of the only sites in Europe we paid to see. It was totally worth it!

Parc Guell was next! I loved it here! It reminded me of candyland and I felt like the artwork was me in the outdoors. Antoni Gaudi's artwork and architecture was incredible to see!

Cody said "Look! It's your personality on a wall!"

We enjoyed some local Catalan cuisine...seafood paella! and of course SANGRIA!

Starbucks break! Mindy you would be so proud!

More Gaudi! Casa Batllo

Canaletes Fountain! Drinking from the fountain ensures a guaranteed return trip to Barcelona! Yippee!!

Las Ramblas - Barcelona's most famous boulevard!

We walked through La Boqueria Market and got some fun juices. Blackberry and a fruit we've never heard of that started with a P :)

On our way back to the beach we saw tapas in the window of a bar that looked fantastic so we stopped and got some!

Dinner at a local place near the beach. Cody ordered a drink that was 1/2 beer 1/2 Sprite and he really liked it! We had an interesting experience with our burger...the patty was steak not ground beef, which was a very unexpected surprise. It was the 1st time we had steak between 2 pieces of bread...and hopefully the last :) The garlic parmesan fries were fantastic!

Our walk back to our apartment was always super fun!

October 3, 2014

We ditched all our plans for the day and spent our last hours in Europe on the beach! It was a wonderful day and the perfect ending to our Europe adventure!

Paris II

BuhBuhBuh Bird Flu!

Lunch at Le Nemrod. We ordered the croque poilâne which was like a gourmet ham and cheese with egg and tomato!

In the subway we found some gems. We wanted to see this but it was for late October.

Look! We're back in Kansas!

More macaroons! We got caramel, strawberry, pistachio, and coconut.

Jardin des Tuileries (Tuileries Garden).  There was a fashion show going on which was super fun to experience! The photographers were asking the models what they were wearing. It was really fun!

We spent the rest of the day back at the Eiffel Tower! It was our favorite part of Paris by far. We ordered some Parisian food at a local market and enjoyed the evening!

I found more money! I must be the daughter-in-law of Steve Southerland :)
